Start Me Up – Level 1 • MONDAYS • May 1 to June 26, 2023
Start Me Up – Level 1
This workshop is for first time improvisers who want to dip their toes into fundamentals of improv. It’s all about having fun on an exciting adventure you’ll never forget. In this 8-week session, you’ll explore the building blocks of improvisation in our safe and supportive classes through games that invite you to live in the moment, become a better listener and enjoy an evening full of laughter and new friends. Give yourself the gift of energy and confidence and an Improv family for life. Start Me Up (SMU) content is always changing and there’s learning to be had in every session. Come on in, the water’s fine!
The final date of every session is a live in-class presentation/demonstration open to family and friends and the improv-curious. It’s a great way to get your feet wet for SMU – Level 2 and for future Impros vs. Joes shows as a Keep Me Upper.
* SMU Level 1 and 2 (or equivalent experience) are required before advancing to Keep Me Up.

Start Me Up – Level 2
This workshop builds on improv fundamentals learned in Start Me Up – Level 1 (SMU1). This 8-week session, for graduates of SMU1 (or equivalent) introduces intermediate improv games reinforcing the improv essentials of active listening, making and accepting offers, as well as honing voice, character and object work. The final date of the session is a live in-class presentation/demonstration open to family and friends and the improv-curious. It offers more practise and stage time for building confidence toward future Impros vs. Joes performances as a Keep Me Upper.
*At least two sessions of SMU (Levels 1 and 2 or equivalent experience) are required before advancing to Keep Me Up.

Keep Me Up
For those with Improv experience, this 8-week session is the ideal workout space to strengthen scene work, long form, listening skills and confidence. As part of a small group of dedicated players you’ll get loads of time on your feet and upping your game through new tips and techniques. The more you play, the stronger you get, so sign up and come out for this safe and hilarious experience. Keep Me Up (KMU) students are eligible to participate on stage in Impros vs. Joes, klusterfork’s regular show at the Gordon Best Theatre in Peterborough.
*Pre-requisite for KMU is minimum two sessions of Start Me Up or equivalent experience.

DAVE PEARCE is a 3-time winner of the Canadian Comedy Award as part of Slap Happy Improv, with whom he performed across North America (and a couple stops in Europe). He’s padded out his traveling improv resume aboard Norwegian Cruise Lines as part of The Second City @ Sea. As a writer, Dave’s credits include George Stromboulopoulos Tonight (CBC), and Opie’s Home (TVO), Ollie The Boy Who Became What He Ate (CBC) and The Irrelevant Show (CBC Radio).


AVERY SALTZMAN is the Co-Artistic Director of Toronto’s Harold Green Jewish Theatre Company, the largest not-for-profit professional theatre company in Canada that devotes itself to telling the Jewish story. As a performer for over 40 years, Avery has graced stages on Broadway and in London’s West End, in countless regional theatres across the US, and most theatres across Canada.


LINDA KASH is a familiar face to Canadians as the Kraft Philadelphia Cream Cheese angel and has an extensive career of credits in television and film including Seinfeld, Everybody Loves Raymond, Waiting for Guffman, Best in Show and the Fargo series opposite Ewan McGregor. She runs the Peterborough Academy of Performing Arts (PAPA), founded in 2007 with her late husband Paul O’Sullivan, teaching improv and acting skills to children, teens & adults.

ANTHONY Q. FARRELL has served as showrunner for THE PARKER ANDERSONS, AMELIA PARKER, and the BAFTA-winning CBBC series SECRET LIFE OF BOYS, which he also created. Currently Anthony is the Showrunner and Executive Producer of the sci-fi primetime comedy OVERLORD & THE UNDERWOODS. In the past, he has written for NBC’s THE OFFICE, Canada’s international hit LITTLE MOSQUE ON THE PRAIRIE, and Nickelodeon’s THE THUNDERMANS. He is in active development on several other shows that he hopes to share in the near future. He lives in Toronto with his amazing family.


She has won three Canadian Comedy Awards, for Best Female Improviser (2002 & 2004) and Best Female TV Performance (for History Bites in 2002).
